U.S. Same Sex Marriage - Now Legal in 21 Countries

Same sex marriage is now the law of the land in the U.S. - but the United States is not the first country to recognize it in the world. We became the 21st country to make it legal.

America was founded on the principle of "All Men Are Equal" and this ruling says the same for those who want the same right of marriage so many of us take for granted (I have taken advantage of it at least three times so far!)

This is not about religion. This is about human rights. Kennedy said that right to marriage is "a fundamental right." He is a man that believes in dignity and liberty. If your religious bible calls for "stoning of adulterers" and no one is being stoned for adultery, then why should your religious text be taken seriously on other issues?  We no longer condone witch burnings for the same reason.

This ruling provides stability and legitimacy to family units. It doesn't take a thing away from anyone else. It merely affirms equality under the 14th Amendment to gays who want to marry the love of their life.  States can't justify treating them otherwise.

No more treating people like second class citizens.

You can read the decision yourself at the court website:

The United States is in a better place in the world.
