Election 2012: Should be Based on FACTS not FALSEHOODS

Election 2012: Should be Based on FACTS
                                                        not FALSEHOODS
20 August 2012
Global American Series

Americans are facing a critical election on the path forward for our country. Therefore, they deserve to make their voting decision based on real FACTS and not political FALSEHOODS. We don’t need an election based on misrepresentations.

So it is GOOD that we are having a discussion on Medicare, taxes and the budget. We finally have an election based on “Big Ideas” instead of little ones.

However, here is where FACTS come in. One of the first casualties of facts is the assertion by Romney’s campaign that “Obama has removed the work requirement from welfare.”  This is “pants on fire” false.  When Romney was Governor of Massachusetts he asked for the same waiver that the Obama administration has given states to give them more flexibility in meeting the work requirements.  Obama has actually strengthened the work requirement by 20%. So is the Romney claim a “dog whistle” call to supporters who think welfare recipients are lazy no- goods?

The second big claim that does not match the facts is Gov. Romney’s declaration that “Obama took $716 Billion out of Medicare.” It makes it sound like Obama REDUCED BENEFITS to people.

NOT TRUE.  Medicare recipients have not had one dollar cut from their payments. Obama’s Affordable Care Act has covered more of the “do-nut hole” for prescriptions. It did lower payments to insurers (not people) – which extends the life of Medicare by eight years. Without those changes Medicare would have run out of money by 2016.

By putting that $716 billion on the table (i.e. by paying the insurance companies MORE) the GOP plan would have the Medicare system run out of cash in four (4) years -- in 2016.

Obama’s campaign has been sticking with Facts, although the Priorities USA SuperPAC has painted a picture of Romney’s a plant lay off by Bain Capital as causing a man’s wife to die of cancer when she died five years after he lost his job and insurance.

But Romney’s Super PAC’s are no more honest.  That is a problem caused by the U.S. Supreme Court’s “Citizens United” decision that lets SuperPAC’s acquire unlimited funding to say anything they wish, whether true or false. Unfortunately, 90% of the SuperPAC ads supporting Mr. Romney during the primary made FALSE statements about his GOP primary opponents.  So we have a case of the “pot calling the kettle black” when it comes to false SuperPAC ads.

Campaigns should have a higher standard than that. They should be policy focused and FACT based.  Unfortunately, facts and truth are in short supply this year.

We are entitled to our own opinions but we need Election 2012 to be made on HONEST FACTS and not FALSEHOODS by the campaigns. If a campaign cannot win based on truth then it deserves to lose. A campaign win based on FALSEHOODS is a deceptive win that undermines our democracy -- because it was based on a lie to the American public.

It is up to the media and all of us to insure that Americans are given honest truth from which to make their decision this November 6.

NEXT: Will there be an “October Surprise” – an attack by Israel on Iran’s nuke complex? If so, who would it benefit the most?

Time for an America That Gets Off the Sex and VIOLENCE and BUILDS for Our Kids

Do you think our movies could get any more SHALLOW? OR STUPID and INSIPID?

America can do better than more empty plots of sex and violence -

It seems CLEAR to me like all the movies are about BLOWING UP things INSTEAD of BUILDING THINGS...Meth dealers are heros? Now its "live sex" in making a movie. That really sets a LOW Standard for our kids, doesn't it?   That kind of stuff should be left to the bozos doing with their Smarphones? LOL.

People who go to this move are subsidizing PORN.

http://www.celebuzz.com/2012-08-18/shia-labeouf-says-hell-perform-real-sex-scenes-in-lars-von-triers-new-movie/

We need some Uplifting Movies.

How about this one?  It's about a person who was flying high then gets laid off --goes through hell, and survives. Even thrives!  Ever run out of money half way around the world? I once did..Get kidnapped in East Texas? I did. Negotiates an international child kidnapping case in Syria? I did.

Now I've got a thriving Green Company.  Americans are still looking at the past instead of what we need to do to win the future. This book is a roadmap to both surviving disaster and how to build America's future in a high tech global, space age economy.

Do you have a friend who needs a lift in spirit? Feeling down?

Then recommend they read this story. I will make them feel better. That there is a way up. It's my story. If I can survive what happened in this book, you can survive ANYTHING.  Best part: It concludes with SOLUTIONS, not Porn...

GOP vs Dem Medicare Proposals

Here is the essence of the difference between the President's Medicare solutions and those proposed by Romney-Ryan:

"The fundamental difference between the approach President Obama and the Democrats have taken and the approach Republicans have taken is this: The president, in Obamacare, worked to reduce health-care costs in the system overall, including in the Medicare system, by, for example, eliminating the huge overpayments going to private insurance in Medicare Advantage and by realigning the payment incentives to reward quality of care over quantity of care.

The Republican approach has been to shift rising health care costs onto the backs of seniors. Seniors would get a voucher that declines over time relative to rising health care costs. Seniors get stuck with the bill. And so the president’s approach did not cut any benefits to Medicare beneficiaries. In fact, it strengthened the benefit to individuals with high drug costs, strengthened the preventative benefit under Medicare. In the Ryan budget, they adopted those savings but did not recycle a penny of the savings into benefits."

Where is America's MAGLEV? How do we plan to lead the world by lagging behind in technology?

My GREEN Business is rockin while I see the "old" industries drying up..People need to WAKE UP.

When the car replaced the horse and buggy, we upgraded our technology base. Now is the time to do it again - by starting NEW Green businesses instead of watching our rust belt technology turn into dust.

FOR EXAMPLE, WIND TECHNOLOGY technology is now in over 30 states, generating tens of thousands of JOBS!  Iowa is getting 20% of its power from WIND. Texas is the LARGEST producer. Yet Rupert Murdoch scoffed at Wind during a radio broadcast with Michael Bloomberg - I noticed that Bloomberg did NOT.  Bloomberg has said that we need to advance our technology to stay competitive in the world.

I first saw China 30 years ago when it was a nation of BICYCLES. I will return to China to this October -- 30 years later for an UPDATE on Technology Progress -- to show Americans HOW FAST AND FAR the Chinese have Come in the past 30 years -- COMPARED to WHERE AMERICA IS TODAY in Technology.

I plan to ride a 260 mph MAGLEV train that hovers over tracks instead of steel on steel. (Photo above). In 1982, I never would have dreamed they would have this technology now. Or that we don't.

Where is America's MAGLEV? How do we plan to lead the world by lagging behind in technology?

Why should you listen to my opinion?  Why is my opinion of any value compared to anyone elses?

I went from small town Iowa to over three decades of international experience in nearly 50 countries, starting with the Fortune 500.  Compare that if I had never left Wisconson or Iowa or any "Hometown USA"?  Yes...big difference. Actual Knowledge COUNTS.  After being in some 50 countries I went to Norway for the first time in 2011 - and didn't have a clue what it was like until I spent a week over there.

Is Paul Ryan Qualified to be President?

Is Paul Ryan Qualified to be President?

Global American Series
14 August 2012

Ronald Reagan once said he was surprised how much the job of  President involved international affairs.  So every election I ask the same question: Do these politicians in Washington DC really know the real world in which we compete? Advisers often disagree so it is vital that the officeholder have international experience to gauge good advice from bad since we are competing in a high-tech, global space-age economy (simply parking money overseas is not “experience.”)

Is Rep. Ryan qualified to step into the shoes of the President if the unthinkable happens?

Reviewing the history of past presidential tickets, Jonathan Bernstein in Wikipedia concluded that "depending on how one scores these things," Romney/Ryan is "certainly the ticket with the least foreign policy and national security experience since at least 1948, and perhaps as far back as 1912.”  In 2012 we face a much different world than we did a hundred years ago.

According to Wikipedia, Mr. Ryan has spent his entire adult life as a member of Congress, elected in 1998 at the age of 28.  Before that he worked at a McDonald’s and at one time drove the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. There’s nothing wrong with that, except the world is vastly more complicated than selling wieners and coming up with economic theories inside the Washington beltway. During his time in Congress, Ryan’s sole international experience has been his going on seven junkets to foreign countries with other members of Congress.  Getting wined and dined at the top is not the same as seeing a country from the street.

Mr. Ryan has said “I was born in Wisconsin and never left it.”  Like Mr. Ryan, I too was born in the Midwest – in Iowa. Later we moved to Texas when I was 15. But unlike Mr. Ryan, I got out of Iowa and Texas and saw the real world.

At the same age of 28 I didn’t go to Congress. Instead, I was hired by a Fortune 500 company (Dresser Industries) and spent five (5) years traveling to about thirty (30) countries on international business negotiations.  I can tell you that the world is a lot different than what you might think from seeing it on TV or in a book. I first saw China in 1982 when they had nothing but bicycles jamming the streets. Now they are the third country in the world to put astronauts safely into space and the largest car market in the world. They have advanced Magnetic Levitation trains that run over 260 miles per hour from the Shanghai airport.  I’ve seen vast changes from Europe to Asia, and how America has changed in that same time. It’s shocking.

On a Congress junket you learn only what they tell you and want you to know. When you are doing business deals on the street level you have to learn the local laws and customs. You have to know the people and build a relationship of trust with them.  If you don’t, your mission will fail.  I discovered that what you read in a book about a country is not what you find when you actually get there.

I went to Norway in 2011 for the first time. Despite being in nearly 50 countries and reading about Norway before the trip, when I got there I found I had no idea what it was really like. That came only after I traveled there and spent considerable time educating myself.

We live in a global economy.  What happens in Europe, or China, does impact the U.S. economy directly.  The Euro disaster hurts U.S. sales since 20% of our exports go to Europe. We do not live in an isolated economic bubble.  Europe is today following an “austerity” program that has caused unemployment to skyrocket and growth to decline. Under President Obama, the U.S. took a different course similar to what FDR did to escape the Great Depression, and the U.S. has been lowering its unemployment rate since the worst financial disaster since the Great Depression of the 1930’s. The Europeans would love to have our economic situation instead of theirs.

Mr. Ryan’s proposed solutions (in the “Ryan Plan”) are to cut education and space investments every year for years to come.  How do we lead a high-tech world without investing in education and space?  We can’t. We either lead it, or China will.  Being No. 2 in the technology race is not a winning hand. It’s disaster for our future.

Unfortunately, I have to conclude Rep. Ryan is not qualified to be President in a global economy.

Next week: Will the “Ryan Plan” promote a recovery, or make things worse and put us an additional $5 Trillion in debt?

NASA: Drought Tied to CLIMATE CHANGE - Why Elect Congress Climate Deniers?

So WHY would intelligent voters elect climate-deniers to Congress?  How good is it for business if we end up with a dead planet?

Over 50% of the U.S. counties are in drought. Oklahoma is on fire - to the degree that its calls for help fighting fires go UNanswered because surrounding states with Climate-denying Governors have their hands full fighting raging fires. Their firefighters are working 24 hours without sleep trying to keep up.

Iowa and Midwest corn have turned into barren husks.  Rivers and lakes have run dry. Odessa, Texas is having to desalinate water.  Arizona, Florida, etc are all trapped.

Failure to deal with its impact and reduce it will fall on your children and their children as we become frogs in an ever-increasing boiling pot.

To survive we either jump out now or find that there is no future in being boiled to death from our own emissions. There is no business on a dead planet - and no alternate planet to flee to if we don't get it right.

So WHY would intelligent voters in any of those states elect climate-deniers to Congress?

Addressing the life threatening problem would also CREATE JOBS and cleaner air and water.

How We Can Lose Syria to Al Qaida

I have been to Syria.  Above Photo is in front of the "Great Mosque" in Damascus, Syria. I was on an international child kidnapping case on behalf of a Texas housewife whose child was taken to the Middle East against her will.

NBC reports tonight that the young fighters against the murdering dictator Assad (very much like Saddam) are secular - not religious fanatics.

But they have no weapons and Assad's forces are killing them. So AL QAIDEA OFFERS MONEY AND WEAPONS THAT NO ONE ELSE IS GIVING THEM.

TO SURVIVE, they will HAVE TO TAKE IT.

UNLESS THE U.S. DID SO FIRST....or else Syria will be taken over by Al Qaida.

UNlike the armchair experts online, I have been in Syria, when Assad's murdering father was the dictator. It's one of nearly 50 countries I've had the unique opportunity to be in on legal international negotiations for over 30 years, starting with the Fortune 500.

My Syria story is in one of the chapters of "Better Times Ahead: April Fool?

Wisconsin Sikh Shooting - Sikhs are NOT Muslims

Above: There are a couple photos I took in INDIA many years ago when I was there on business. Notice the "snake charmer" wearing a turban. In India, a major religious group are the SIKHS. They wear Turbans.  Memo to Americans: Sikhs are NOT Muslims -but many Americans don't seem to know the difference, with tragic consequences.

Reports from the Wisconsin shooting at the Sikh temple indicate the shooter was a white man, who was bald.  The temple had been receiving threats since 9/11, which was an act by extremist Muslims -- meaning that morons who can't tell Muslim from Sikhs were assuming that they are the same. They are NOT.

Even if had been a Muslim Mosque, the shooting would have been wrong. It's even worse when people show their ignorance and target a religious group that has never been a threat to Americans. In fact, targeting ANY religious group is WRONG.

I pin this latest senseless mass murder on the hate speakers, many of whom are on radio, who influence the unstable and ignorant among us to step over the line and commit violence. Yes, that means people like you Rush Limbaugh, and those who try to copy him.

That includes those who brand a Christian President as "Muslim" as a form of "dog whistle" of acceptable bigotry.  Instead of using the "N word" they use term "Muslim" as a substitute. It's the same.

I'm disgusted. It's time for Americans to educate themselves on the many religions that form a part of our diverse culture. We are a nation of Jews, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Muslims, Christians (which includes Mormons) and non-believers.

Our forefathers saw how religious freedom suffered when there was only one "state religion." That's why the First Amendment states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."

It's time to stop hating people just because of their color or religion. It's time to stop the senseless hate messaging filling our airwaves.

War with IRAN - $10 gas. Rain of hell on U.S. and Israel

For those wanting a war with IRAN, read this article by the guy who predicted how the Iraq war would go...

The U.S. would lose at least an aircraft carrier, and more. In one second we could suffer 5,000 U.S. military deaths.  Iran has Chinese made supersonic SUNBURN missiles that can take out our ships. Iraq didn't have these kinds of weapons.

Gas would hit $10 A GALLON in a day....the U.S. economy would nosedive....The author leaves out the missiles raining on Israel from Hamas and Hezbollah...

Like the days before the Iraq war, "everyone" was so FOR it. Then they will HATE it on Day 1 when REALITY sets in. Iranians would rally behind their leaders and they definitely will produce a bomb.

still want a war with Iran MITT? Your boys will be safe here at home. No one else's will be...and you won't even want to PAY for it, just like Iraq, Afghanistan....

http://rense.com/general69/dayone.htm

I was a TV terrorism adviser on 9/11 and before that during the first Gulf War (some of the videos are on YouTube under the name "Fjet2020").  In my opinion, a war with Iran will hurt US (and Israel) MORE than it will Iran...the entire Middle East and nuclear Pakistan will blow up. It could mean Pakistan's nukes end up on the hands of Taliban/Al Qaida sympathizers, making things even WORSE.  Frankly, we have more to lose than they do.

THINK Americans. Haven't we learned yet that half baked "preventive" wars like Iraq cause even greater misery, deaths and debt on Americans?  Fool us once, shame on you. Fool us TWICE, shame on us for being so stupid to believe the hogwash of "preventive" war...Iran has weapons Saddam only dreamed of.

If not, see for yourself how well our economy does with $10 gallon gas and over 5,000 sailors killed when an Iranian missile takes out one of our aircraft carriers. And that would be just the start if Israel attacks Iran we will all pay a heavy price in blood and treasure..

http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Middle-East/2012/0126/How-Iran-could-beat-up-on-America-s-superior-military

"In light of a $250 million classified US war game called Millennium Challenge 2002. The gaming scenario hypothetically pitted the Blue Team (representing US warships) against a Red Team that launched a coordinated assault using swarming boats and missiles – the kind of tactics Iran might employ.
In the game, 16 American ships, including an aircraft carrier and most of its strike group, were sunk before the exercise was suspended and the parameters controversially changed to ensure a US victory."

30 Years Later: How Does China and USA Rank in Tech Leadershp?

Photo: Michael Fjetland (left), Interpreter Wang Yen and Bob Sload, on a trip representing Dresser Industries, Inc. 1982 - pollution control technology for their coal power plants. I was the attorney and Bob was one of the technical guys (nice guy). Ms. Wang Yen was one of our Chinese Interpreters during negotiations. And yes, that is part of the "Great Wall of China."
Photo: Tiananmen Square - October 1 is "National Day" and out come the flags..I happened to arrive for their National Day events...

Details of that trip and other international adventures after a layoff at: www.BetterTimesAheadAprilFool.com

To give Americans a sense of the vast changes that have happened in the country that poses the greatest technical challenge to American leadership,  I signed up with the National Hispanic Professionals for a trip to China this October - 30 years from my FIRST Trip to China in 1982. How does the USA stack up against China in 2012?

My first trip to China in 1982 was when I was with a Fortune 500 company. This time it is with my own small company, which is a thriving green+security company, Armor Glass (www.ArmorGlass.com).  It is thriving under Obama's leadership because he has promoted energy efficiency and renewable energy.  We are doing very well when old industries struggle -- and we AREN'T even doing any work with the government!

Armor Glass is a sample of the new green economy that could generate tens of thousands if not millions of jobs, while SAVING our country BILLIONS in energy costs.

Upon return, I plan to compare the old China you read about in"Better Times Ahead" with present China, including a ride on the world's first "Maglev" train - its electropmagnets HOVER above the bed, making it possible to safety exceed 200 miles per hour!

After that trip, I will be publishing an opinion based on experience in nearly 50 countries on where the USA ranks against its main competitor in this global, space age 21st Century...

Olympics Big GOLD Winners: USA and CHINA, But Different Attitudes

SPECIAL: OLYMPICS 2012 in London

The USA and CHINA are the two biggest GOLD METAL winners at the London 2012 Olympics. But a BIG DIFFERENCE has popped  up - ATTITUDE.

Several Chinese Badminton players intentionally tried to lose a match - in order to advance to WEAKER opponents in the next round.  To its IMMENSE CREDIT the Olympics officials EXPELLED them.

You did not see American performers trying to game the system.

Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte fought it out to the end. Both won. Phelps took a record number of medals - but it was the fierce competition with Lochte that increased the competitiveness of BOTH.

Imagine trying that on your own...without someone pushing you to be faster, better...

China has upgraded its technology in amazing fashion since my first time to see it 30 years ago, in 1982. Their people have skills to fill jobs in America that Americans themselves do NOT have.

Yet without democracy and ethics a country cannot win the future. If AMericans upgrade our skills, we can be No. 1 again.

But not if we sit and watch mindless "reality" TV and don't go see what is happening in countries like China, while our bridges and roads and education falls into disrepair and neglect....

GOP: FAILS to Vote for CYBERSECURITY law

In yet another inexplicable act of mindlessness, the GOP today, led by the TeaBag element, FAILED to pass a CYBER-SECURITY LAW - to protect our computer systems from foreign sabotage!

That is NUTS.

This is not a partisan issue. Security is security!

As a former TV Terrorism expert, I see no logic to this opposition to protecting America's 21st century technology. Our power grids could be brought down by cyber-terrorists without this law. Our nuclear plants could be sabotaged to overload without this bill.

DO these GOP leaders have a CLUE what they are doing that is jeopardizing the security of ordinary Americans in this space age, high tech century?

TEABAG GOP wings refusal to INVEST in ANYTHING

3 planes almost COLLIDED at Reagan Intl in DC...Reason? We still have an old radar system that leads to these issues. Why?

Because of the TEABAG GOP wings refusal to INVEST in ANYTHING including FAA systems, endangers all of us who fly...

Our 70 year old bridges will collapse with people like you on them (when it happens I hope that the Congress rep who voted against funding repair or replacement is on it when it falls into the water, like the bridge in Minneapolis St Paul that fell into the Mississippi with people trapped in their cars, when Mr. Pawlenty was GOvernor.

I am going to China in October to compare 2012 China with the China I first saw on my first trip there 30 years ago (as a young attorney for a Fortune 500 company selling pollution control equipment). It's desribed in "Better Times Ahead; APril Fool?

Over HALF of U.S> is under DROUGHT....And DO NOTHING CONGRESS does....NOTHING about it. We need to dump the CORN Ethanol and HELP THIS FARMERS. TeaBag Congress does NEITHER.

Obama just did for Syria what the GOP used to call "Freedom Agenda" when Bush was doing it - fighting dictators that kill their own people, as Assad is doing, attacking civilian houses with jets and tanks...dead women and children line the streets. Bush sent armies and spent trillions. Obama sent a team of Seals and Osama bin laden was dead - VERY EFFICIENT.  No Tora Bora.

"Slap in the Face" Threats - NOT American values

Friend of mine works for a guy. He sells a million dollars a year for this guy who owns the company. The owner has been abusive, to the point of calling up on the intercom and saying things like "Do I have to come out there and slap your face!" to another employee.

My friend has found himself on the phone trying to make a sale when the owner will come up and start screaming at another employee (imagine that really helps make a sale).

Get this: the owner calls himself religious and is supporting the GOP ticket, yet treats his employees making him millions a year like dirt.

Anyone know a good lawyer who can advise if this is actionable? My friend is just "taking it" but I think the working conditions are as bad as China - something out of Captain Blythe.

TRUE STORY...These are NOT "American Values" and certainly not Global American values when you don't treat people with RESPECT and EQUALITY.
