America’s Hidden Asset No One Knows About

What if America had a hidden asset that builds global goodwill and bridges, but no one knew about it?

Did you know a key reason that Al Qaeda has been able to recruit suicide bombers? Because in places like nuclear-armed Pakistan, parents (mostly poor farmers who get little or nothing from their government) can’t afford to send their kids to schools, which often don’t have books, so they send them to the “free” Madrassa’s – which teach hate instead of math and science.

The situation was made worse when 20 million Pakistani’s were displaced by historic flooding this year. What if these kids had real textbooks to learn from instead? Al Qaeda thrives on ignorance and fear by people who never see a real book to learn about America or anything else. Only books can free them from extremists’ attempts at mind control.

Have you ever wondered what happens to America’s used school books?

Most end up in the trash. Yet schools in underdeveloped countries around the world have no books and can’t afford to buy even used ones. Or their latest book is forty years old! As the saying goes “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.”

This week on Global American radio we talk to a Seabrook, Texas couple who founded a unique program called “Books for the World” as a result of a dinner they had with a visiting Rotarian friend from South Africa. When they asked him what his country needed most, he said “books.” And so it began as a Rotary International project that is building bridges between people on a one-on-one basis. It wasn’t a government program but governments have not opposed it. You can bet the billions our government gives to the Pakistan government will NOT trickle down to the ordinary folks! This program serves those on the bottom.

Tune in this week to hear how it started in South Africa, and how schools and people from around the U.S. have participated – and how this non-government program could help Americans raise the standard of living of people with nothing who are eager to learn – generating trust and goodwill, and possibly even preventing the next terror attack on the U.S., by spreading knowledge instead of hate.

Global American radio airs Saturday at 9 am Central time on Houston Business 1110, streamed on the Internet at www.Business1110KTEK.com and available 24/7 on our website at www.GlobalAmerican.org (Click Favorite programs and then “Books for the World”).

The 30% tax credit (up to $1,500 of the materials cost) for installing solar security film expires December 31, 2010. Don’t wait! The recent historic storm that swept the middle of the country produced massive winds that broke windows – which results in structural failure from internal wind pressure. You have until December 31, 2010 to act, since there is no guarantee the next Congress will extend this beneficial, energy saving program.
